I forgot how peaceful life could be when you are a member of a small family;Mom forgot too.
Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 was a beautiful day. It was not too hot, the sky was blue, and the roar of motorcycles filled the air. Those wild boy and girl humans were having fun at Bikes, Blues, and Barbeque, one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the United States. Our Bad Boys of Twitter(#BBOT)were having their own motorcycle rally, so mom said she would go take BBB pix for the BBOT. Fat chance! Fate had already taken control! (Ta-dum, loud movie music)
As mom was getting ready to leave, she heard us barking out in the yard. She walked outside and saw we were barking at a pretty, tan, young female dog. Mom went outside and fed her some dog biscuits, but found the dog had disappeared when she went to get her water. Oh well, mom got in her car and left.
The rest of the story is testified to by my human, Barbara. Mommy was driving up to a very busy street and saw the tan dog running around very close to traffic. Mom says she didn't think it would work, but she stopped her car, open the door, and called the dog. Amazingly, she came and jumped in mom's car.
Mommy brought the tan dog home, and she has lived here ever since. She was skinny, full of fleas, and very friendly. She was nervous, but wanted to play right away. Mom didn't want to name her, but kitty Anipals on Twitter said we should name her Blaze because of the white streak down her forehead. Mom thought about it for awhile, then decided that probably no one would come looking for her. We officially named her Blaze, danced and sang, then told everybody on Twitter about our wonderful luck.
Anipals, remember Blaze's gotcha day is October 1. Mom will take her to the vet tomorrow for a check-up, and will take parttime leave next week so she only has to teach and not do the other stuff teachers have to do; she wants to come home and be with us...especially since Blaze seems scared when mom leaves.
I hope we will all live happily ever after.
